Juddmonte mares to sell at Inglis Chairman's Sale

Juddmonte is to offer three mares at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale on Friday, 6th May, the first time that the operation has consigned mares in the Southern Hemisphere.

Two of them are in foal to Frankel and the other is one of his daughters and in foal to Kingman. Juddmonte pedigrees have made a lasting impression on almost every racing jurisdiction they have migrated to, making these Australian-offered mares a rare and invaluable attraction.
Juddmonte’s UK Stud Director Simon Mockridge said: “The development of the Inglis Chairman’s Sale over the past few years has been noteworthy, making it an obvious choice for Juddmonte to showcase a select group of mares from some of our most established families. The mares, to be consigned under Olly Tait’s Twin Hills banner, represent a unique opportunity for the Australian market to appraise and invest into deep Juddmonte pedigrees honed over generations and carrying to two elite international sires.
“Over the years, Juddmonte families have enjoyed great success in Australia and New Zealand through the likes of Gr.1 winners Makybe Diva, Mr Baritone, Leicester, Kings Will Dream, Royal Performer and QueenSupreme, and these results have been further buoyed by the emergence of Frankel and Kingman as sires of significant importance to the market.
“From relatively limited opportunities, Frankel has made a sensational start in Australia with 30 per cent black-type performers/ runners and 13 per cent Group winners/runners, including multiple Gr.1 winners Converge and Hungry Heart.’’

The three mares in the sale were all foaled in 2018 and are: Escapement, a placed Invincible Spirit mare out of a full-sister to Gr.1 winner Timepiece and half-sister to Gr.1 winner Passage Of Time, dam of Group winner and promising young sire Time Test. She is in foal to Frankel. Ludisia, a Frankel full-sister to the Gr.3-winning juvenile Fair Eva, who sadly died at four, out of the Gr.1-winning sprinter African Rose, who is a half-sister to the dam of last season’s unbeaten Champion Two-Year-Old Native Trail and to the dam of Gr.3 winner and young sire Calyx. She is in foal to Calyx’s sire Kingman.
Lucid Dreamer, a winning daughter of Dansili, broodmare sire of more than 100 Stakes winners, and in foal to Frankel, who is the sire of her dam’s Classic-winning half-brother Logician. There have been seven Stakes performers in the past two years from this family. The Inglis Chairman’s Sale has enjoyed terrific results over the past three years, with three of the four highest-priced in-foal mares sold at public auction in Australasia in 2019-2021 at this sale. In 2021 alone, it had a Southern Hemisphere record average of A$532,736 and 91 per cent clearance rate, while the Chairman’s average (A$674,118) and median (A$342,500) for fillies and mares off the track were 137 per cent higher and 185 per cent higher respectively than the nearest competitor’s equivalent. Senior Bloodstock Consultant and Inglis’ European Representative Harry Bailey said each of the three mares would be highly sought after. “This is a significant coup for the Chairman’s Sale and an unprecedented opportunity for Australasian breeders,’’ he commented. “The Juddmonte breeding operation is arguably the best in the world, so to have the opportunity to offer for sale mares they have specifically identified and managed with the Australian market in mind is a real honour.”
